Part drawn in MM; Need in inches. JS By James Sorrentino 01/06/11. I have a newbie who started modeling a part on the default template which as you know uses mm as the default units. I don't want to redraw the part from scratch on a"inches" template; how do I scale the part & set the correct template. Thanks in advance!
Can anyone tell me how to set the unit of measure in inches as the default? I wasn't given the option when I installed the solidworks. I am running 2008 and I can change the unit when I am creating a drawing and save it in inches, but when I create a new model it always starts in mm.
Converting Units from inches to mm. SS By sudhakar subramanian 04/15/08. Hi
The home for the SOLIDWORKS Forum. REAL People, REAL Experiences, REAL Knowledge.
I open the original part, and save it as a copy and add test to the name. I open the new test part, and change it's units to mm and save it. I save it also save it in .stl format. I select options, and set the dimensions to mm prior to saving the file. I open the the the .stl file and save it as a SW part.
Cable Wire Library: Values changing and wires not inserting correctly. I have made a small library of cables for a project, all done directly through the Cable Wire Library Wizard (CWLW), no use of excel or spreadsheet software. I've already seen that I cannot change the units from inches, so I've been manually converting from mm, but that is ...
Measure is the wrong scale : SP By Stuart Pyper 02/11/20. When I use the measure tool in edrawings on a metric unit the dimension shows up 25.4 x bigger, and if I change the units to inches it measures correctly as a metric dimension but says it's inches. I can't find any settings for this, does any else have the same problem or a fix?
If not, the +/- might work, but why can't I type the tolerance in inches? If I want +/-.005" I have to type .127 so it will show up correctly. If I just type .005 I get .000". I have the units set to inches and all of the dimensions show up as inches, so why would the input still need to be in MM? Thanks in advance.
DC By David Cooley 01/31/07. Can't seem to find this out there but has anyone asked for the ability to measure in two units at the same time. Yeah I was told over 30 years ago that USA will be metric and it's still an on going process. The problem now is when I'm designing, I need to work around two systems of measure all the time.
Training Templates. I have been going through the SW'08 Tutorials for about a week and a half now, and have been using SW to convert mm to inches and vice versa. Next week I start the online training that SW offers and received a SolidWorks Premium manual. In lesson two, they want the user to open a new part and click on the Part_mm template ...
