I am designing a Guard rail in Tampa, Florida and I did a lot of research to figure out the Deflection limitations but couldn't find actual solid resource. can you please provide me the resource for the deflection limitation when I apply 50 PLF or 200 Lbs on the top rail or vertical post.

In regards to the Ka and Ko values I believe if we want to have minimal effect we use Ko which tampa confirmed, but my main question was because Ka and Kp are relative is that if you use Ko can that affect the value you take for Kp? for example the angle is 30 degrees then Ka would equal 0.3333333 and 1/0.33333 (1/Ka) gives you your Kp value of 3.

Heat treat AD rivets. Recently heard one of our customers heat treat AD rivets to about 200 F for one hour prior to installation so they drive easier. As a structural repair tech and current instructor I have never heard of this practice. My concern is they are annealing the rivets and they will never handle the design loads.

Plastic materials (polymers) are not hyperelastic. Polymers and rubbers are modelled differntly. Polymers are viscoelastic (strain rate dependent) whereas rubbers are hyperelastic. So the rubbers can undergo large deformations without loss of strain energy. With polymers and plastics this is not the case.

Hello-I have a flat roof onto which I am interested in installing some solar panel arrays. As I am in a high wind area (design is ~145 mph), I either need to penetrate the roof 50+ times to anchor the panel mounting rails, or use a ballasted system and avoid the penetrations altogether.
