In 2019, IDEAS partnered with Project Scotland to provide a way for young people’s voices to be heard on key issues, and to speak directly to decision makers. Over the course of 2019, we worked together with 30 young volunteers to generate and share ideas around the SDGs and how to make government more open for everyone.

IDEAS has a two-tier membership structure to support members’ differing needs and capacity. Full Membership of IDEAS is for organisations with a core GCE purpose. IDEAS is a network run by its members. The IDEAS Executive Committee is elected at the annual AGM and consists of representatives including a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Trustees normally serve 2 years. IDEAS currently employs a Communications & Engagement Officer to support and strengthen the collective voice of our members.

GCE is an approach to learning rather than an add on. It can be incorporated across the curriculum, reaching beyond school to the wider community. It draws on a wide and evolving variety of participatory teaching and learning methodologies. Many of these are now established as good practice in education, and are not unique to global citizenship.
