Ikea vs Wren kitchen installation. Anonymous user 14 December 2020 - 7.38 PM. Hi All I am looking to get a new kitchen and after going to multiple places I have narrowed down to either purchasing from Ikea or Wren. The 2 quotes are very close in terms of price and I understand that Ikea cabinets need a bit more work to get installed.

Are Ikea kitchen units difficult to fit? Anonymous user 12 March 2014 - 7.28 PM. Hi, We're planning on buying a new kitchen from Ikea, and using their design, planning and delivery service. The kitchen is only small - 4m x 3.6m, and of this, we will be having wall and base units along just one wall.
Hi, 5cm gap be fine for your electrics. You will need to pack out wall with 3" x 2" or 4" x 2" to put your hanging rail to. If the appliances are from IKEA they will fit. However, you will need a custom made worktop to fit back to wall. In theory IKEA worktop are standard 635mm plus your 50mm (5cm) gap = worktop depth of 685mm.
The worktop we have in mind is the Ikea Karbly, which is walnut wood veneer over particleboard and comes with beveled edges - in lengths of 1.86m and 2.46m. Our kitchen is 4m long, so will need two to be joined at least once. The layout is along one wall as below.
ikea kitchen installation. Anonymous user 28 June 2017 - 1.16 AM. I am planning to fit ikea kitche,Had 3 builders come around ,and they all said no to ikea, prefer howdens or benchmarx.Any idea why is that. Can i plaster my kitchen wall before insatalling new kitchen,do i need a plaster to it or kitchen insatllers do it
I have an Ikea kitchen and most non Ikea appliances fit their carcasses no problem, apart from the dishwasher. We used John Lewis ovens, great, an Ikea freezer as it was cheap and easy to replace if it goes wrong, but the massive pain was the dishwasher. We bought their basic one and within a couple of months the heating element went.
Anonymous user. Iam kitchen fitter for more than 8 years i recommend wickes kitchens , ikea kitchens are terrible and very cheap wood aswell the back panels are very slim , and takes a lot of time to assemble the units , im not sure about home base kitchens i have checked some pictures and looks like they are better than ikea but i can see from some pictures that home-base cabinets got loads ...
Ikea uses sturdy steel suspension rail for these units, but there is no information about hinges. For a home office where I also have quite heavy cabinets filled with paper, the company I hired used chemical anchors with very long screws - the idea being that they drilled through the plasterboard all the way to the brick wall behind (but there was no suspension rail).
