sort of a... cultural? question -- how/why are people using namemc?
There are 300 million copies of minecraft sold + lots of people that just watch others play. If only 0.05% of these people decide to use a service like namemc, and 1/3 of it to pay... It would still enough to keep an website like that up. Im guessing the people who pay for premium just wants to support the website.

Minecon capes are a hot commodity among account thieves, and they're using NameMC to find and steal them and the support over there do not care. As a server admin, I've found using namemc to look at people's name history super useful, however there isn't really any need for the cape ...
