Alternative method: Go to the overlay options and select overlay (disable other things if you want to clean the view) Change the color of wireframe on the blender options to white, or other color (black is usually hard to see). First select the concerned objects and Press 4 to go to wireframe mode. Press 5 to get out of it. If you mean 4 on main keyboard, it will move selected object to 4th 3D layer. If you mean Numpad 4 then it will rotate the view around Z axis in the viewport. I don't have an idea where is wireframe mode related here.

Click the button that looks like 2 offset squares to the left of the"viewport preview" circle buttons at the top right of the 3D viewport. If that doesn't fix it, it could be an AMD GPU issue, but it's hard to tell. Have you updated your drivers recently? (newest ones cause problems) – Christopher Bennett.

In Tab Edit mode, A select all, Delete> Only faces. Alt C> Convert to curve from mesh. In Object Data > Shape set Fill to Full. Set the Depth and Resolution in Object Data > Geometry > Bevel. Pros: Allows good control over the shape and size of the bars, using bevel objects. Cons: Results in disconnected topology.

7. It is possible using the object properties of your sphere. Go in the display options under the properties tab of the object and check Wire and Draw All Edges. This will affect the Solid, Textured and Material view-ports. Share.

If none of the solutions worked for anyone still ( in the newer versions ), I was able to turn on the edges in object mode in the following properties section : Properties region -> Object Properties -> Viewport Display -> Show : Wireframe.
